There was camaraderie and definitely plenty of driving as the recent Ferrari Owners’ Club Malaysia (FOCM) drive took to the mountains.

Beginning with breakfast at Gordon Ramsay Bar & Grill restaurant at Sunway Resort Hotel, the 30-strong Ferrari convoy would then hightail it to the highway, making their way towards the foothills of Cameron Highlands.

Following a quick refuelling at the Simpang Pulai Shell station, the convoy, comprising some recent beauties from the stable of the Cavallino Rampante, such as a 12Cilindri and Purosangue, would then wend their way upwards to Tanah Rata at Cameron Highlands.

A lunch pitstop provided the boost for the drivers to then make their way to the new Oakwood Cameron Highlands, overlooking the verdant expanse of the Kelab Golf Sultan Ahmad Shah. At the topmost floor of the hotel, they lounged at the Oak Lounge signature glasshouse located on level 15.

Here, the FOCM members tucked into a delicious tea-time treat of scones, sandwiches, pastries, and fresh fruit from nearby farms. Just beneath, the entire expanse of the Tanah Rata landscape unfurled, with peaceful views of the golf course, the nearby forests, as well as the peaks of the Titiwangsa mountain range, Peninsular Malaysia’s backbone.

For dinner, the Oak Lounge and its kitchen team pulled out all the stops with an array of fresh produce, grilled meats, and fish, with a choice of roast lamb, succulent lobsters topped with melted cheese, satay, and spiced grilled fish with a moreish dipping sauce.

Dinner by the Oakwood Cameron Highlands team included freshly grilled lobsters.

A live band enlivened the evening as the full moon began to wax. A selection of cigars was then rolled out for the FOCM members to partake, and conversations turned from automobiles to business, and everything in between.

Singer-songwriter Wu Jian Yi (left), winner of several Astro singing competitions, provided the entertainment on the evening.

And, as the members returned to their rooms following the night’s close, they found a voucher gift pack from Optimax for physio, eye tests, and facials. They also received a custom gift pack comprising locally sourced and organic sweet potatoes, gooseberries, strawberries, and honey, as well as a jar of homemade strawberry jam from the nearby Sands Farm, a delicious memory of this year’s highland drive.
