This Edition of the House of Robb At Wolo Mont Kiara KL Reveals A New Vision of Luxury Living
In an evening of contemporary refinement, Robb Report Malaysia and Wolo Mont Kiara KL gathered leading names in design, horology, sound, and spirits.
Savoir-faire was the unifying thread of an evening that brought together some of the most respected names in design and luxury. This edition of the House of Robb at Wolo Mont Kiara KL showcased the scintillating timepieces from famed watchmaking maison Breguet, luxury audio by Bang & Olufsen and the ineffable genius in a dram by The Macallan—each with its distinct interpretations of expert craftsmanship.

Stepping into the calming atmosphere of Wolo Mont Kiara L: Experience Lounge, set against the backdrop of Bukit Bintang, guests were immediately greeted by an illuminated model of the upcoming Wolo Mont Kiara KL Hotel & Residences. Commanding the room from the moment of arrival, the model offered guests a tangible preview of the vision and lifestyle that Wolo Mont Kiara KL seeks to create. Around it, the event unfolded, inviting guests to circulate between architecture, horology, whisky, sound, and wellness.
Malaysian jazz band Urban Tribes led by trumpeter Eddie Wen filled the lounge with timeless jazz classics, from The Girl from Ipanema to Fly Me to the Moon, lending an effortless rhythm to the evening. A meticulously prepared procession of hors d’oeuvres then traversed the room, rich lobster rolls adorned with caviar, buttery brioche topped with sea urchin and bluefin tuna, truffle-laced tortellini, and wagyu atop crisp potato pave with raspberry tartlets and opera gateau bringing the culinary journey full circle.
Beneath the occasion’s convivial atmosphere lay an orchestrated narrative. Every detail of the event— from the jazz standards to the gathering of heritage brands— was curated to frame a broader conversation about contemporary luxury, culminating in the introduction of Wolo Mont Kiara KL, a development that translates eloquence into everyday living.
“Wolo is a community for those who appreciate that we only live once,” remarked emcee Deborah Henry as she welcomed guests, capturing the spirit of the entire evening. Luxury was not presented as a spectacle, but rather as a way of living—defined by deliberate spaces and experiences intended to enrich our daily practices.
This sentiment remained at the forefront of the forthcoming Wolo Mont Kiara KL. Guided by the ethos ‘Where Hospitality Meets Home’, the development proposes a modern interpretation of comfortable living, where a dedicated concierge team complements the thoughtfully integrated facilities and designs of the residences.
Throughout the lounge, individual rooms were transformed into immersive recreations of the residences themselves, enabling guests to step directly into the envisioned lifestyle. Under the creative direction of Singapore’s 932 Design group, the interior demonstrated a quiet sophistication. A restrained palette allowed materiality to become a defining language. Veined marble surfaces introduced a degree of permanence and elegance, while warm timber panelling softened the spaces with a gentle sense of comfort. The result was a dialogue between cool stone and natural wood that felt neither ostentatious nor austere, but created a harmonious equilibrium that invited admiration.

Dato’ Sri Thomas Liang Chee Fong, the group managing director of Magma Group—the parent company of Wolo Mont Kiara KL, reflected that this upcoming project was created to be “not just an apartment, home, or story,” but “a place which exudes the passions of its inhabitants.” His words were a reminder that architecture begins before the concrete is poured. It begins with the willingness to transform an idea into a place that people can call home.
The same reverence for craft was explored by the evening’s other participants. Each brand at the function demonstrated its own understanding of savoir-faire, revealing that luxury is not confined to a singular aesthetic.

Breguet—founded by the watchmaking legend that is Abraham-Louis Breguet in 1775—expressed this ideology at the lounge by illustrating the delicate balance between tradition and innovation. The showcase presented guests with a glimpse into its rich horological legacy, presenting historical timepieces as well as its 2026 novelties. From the artistry behind the enamel dials of its timepieces to the instantly distinguishable Breguet numerals that continue to define generations of watchmaking, the display was encompassing of the brand’s defining signatures.
Sharing Breguet’s message that with heritage often comes quality, The Macallan offered a different meditation on time. Guests were invited for a tasting of a selection of Highland single malt Scotch whiskies, patience being a defining ingredient in each one. The tasting experience began with the 18-Year-Old Double Cask, a harmony of European and American oak casks seasoned with sherry that provided a depth that is distinctly The Macallan. The Rare Cask closely followed and, with its naturally deep ruby mahogany hue, offered a more intense flavour profile, marked by a sweet raisin flavour and a velvety richness. Completing the tasting was the ‘Art is the Flower’ edition. Inspired heavily by ‘The Spirit of the Rose’ by Scottish artist, designer and architect Charles Rennie Mackintosh, this expression celebrates nature with a fruity profile and citrus notes.

Meanwhile, Bang & Olufsen enriched the evening’s sensory experience, ensuring the evening resonated not only through taste, but through sound as well. Celebrating its centenary, the Danish audio brand provided the event’s soundtrack through the Beolab 50 speakers, whose presence blended seamlessly into the venue’s thoughtfully considered environment.
Danny Cheong, Bang & Olufsen Malaysia’s general manager, commented on their partnership with Wolo, explaining that “in terms of design, workmanship, and quality, all these combine together to make for a fruitful partnership,” the compatibility of the companies being evident in their shared pursuit of design evolution. Beyond aesthetics, Bang & Olufsen’s commitment to responsible manufacturing is expressed through its Cradle to Cradle design principles, re-examining luxury through the lens of longevity and purpose.

As the night drew to a close, final glasses were emptied and the last notes of jazz dissolved into the panoramic views of the city skyline. One conclusion emerged: luxury is undergoing a subtle but significant transformation. Increasingly, value is found not merely in ownership, but in layers of expertise, innovation, and cultural heritage embedded in each creation. From WOLO’s architectural vision to Breguet’s horological heritage and Bang & Olufsen’s design engineering to The Macallan’s maturation process, each showcased how different disciplines can converge to produce a spectacle. The celebration of design and savoir-faire ultimately offered a glimpse into the evolving landscape of luxury, one shaped largely by intention.
