Wolo Mont Kiara KL Opens Its Development With A Spectacular Display of Malaysian Artistry

At Dewan Filharmonik Petronas, Wolo KL recently hosted A Night With Friends of Wolo. With the official commencement of Wolo Mont Kiara KL Hotel & Residences’ construction at the forefront, guests, co-visionaries, and selected media were invited to celebrate expert craftsmanship, culture, and hospitality with a virtuoso display of musicality.

The celebration began in the foyer, where guests were greeted with bottles of oriental tea, courtesy of Chagee. Evening gowns and classic black-tie suits set the stage. Inside, taking the stage was the Radio Television Malaysia (RTM) Orchestra—Malaysia’s oldest and longest-running ensemble—opening with a beautiful rendition of Beauty and the Beast.

Beneath the display of musical prowess lay the essence of community. “Wolo is an acronym for We Only Live Once. Live life to the fullest. Live life to the boldest,” said Dato’ Sri Thomas Liang Chee Fong, executive director and chief executive officer of Magma Group. “When people look into our buildings, we are not only putting a roof on top of their heads. We don’t just put four walls across their bodies. We’re building a community.”

“Visitors may at first be attracted by a destination,” YB Dato’ Sri Tiong Pin Seng, Minister of Tourism, Arts, and Culture of Malaysia, added. “But it is often the culture they experience, the performances they enjoy, and the people they meet that leave the most lasting impression.”

As the night unfolded, Datuk Mokhzani Ismail, renowned jazz pianist, composer, and former RTM Orchestra music director, joined the ensemble as maestro of the night. Complementing the orchestral arrangements was saxophonist Jaffar Abdul Rahman, his jazzy melodies filling the concert hall with rhythm and ease as they performed classics such as The Prayer by Celine Dion and Andrea Bocelli.

The creative leaders behind this project then took to the stage with their visions behind the forthcoming property, including speeches from Veritas Design Group, Openbox Architects, and Global Branded Residences (GBR).

“Instead of separating living and hospitality, Wolo allows them to exist together as one continuous experience,” Nui Ratiwat Suwannatrai of Openbox Architects noted. “A collaboration of great minds in creating Wolo is like an orchestra. All instruments playing parts to create a whole epic experience. It’s far more than creating architecture. We were shaping a way of life.”

A stunning performance by Dato’ Sri Siti Nurhaliza served as the penultimate act of the night, with renditions of When You Tell Me that You Love Me, 月亮代表我的心 (The Moon Represents My Heart), and her original piece, Bukan Cinta Biasa—encompassing the sense of community that underlined the event. Finally, the RTM Orchestra ended the celebration to the upbeat tune of Love Never Felt So Good by Michael Jackson, leaving guests with an unforgettable experience and excitement for what Wolo Mont Kiara KL has to offer.
