Sun salutations on stylish skin
The word baller in the English language means someone or something who makes balls, an archaic term that is today used instead as a slang adjective to mean extravagant, excellent and impressive. In the case of the BallerYoga mat, both meanings are correct. It is made from the same leather used to make footballs (American football, that is) and it also costs US$1000 (RM4,250).
Why on earth would a yoga mat cost four figures, you ask? The pebble-surfaced, full-grain genuine leather from US tannery Horween, that why; which proves to be far less slippery than synthetic mats when sweat begins to pour during a yoga session. The inspiration for the BallerYoga mat came when founder Cedric Yau was in Bali and found fault in the cheap slippery mats offered by the five-star resort, messing with the alignment of his chakras. Grippy and non-sticky, the BallerYoga mat starts at US$495 (RM2,100) for stitched versions, with a single-piece version costing US$1,000. Vegetarian and vegan yoga practitioners probably won’t agree, but the BallerYoga mat is proof that you can turn anything into a luxury item.
