Celebrating the launch of The Macallan Edition No. 4 with the ostentatious fanfare it deserves
How do you unveil a top-line whisky? In style of course, and a lot of flair. This is precisely what The Macallan did when the famed distillery debuted The Macallan Edition No. 4 recently.
There to witness the official launch of the whiskey in Malaysia were trade partners of Edrington Malaysia, VIP guests, the media and of course essential influencers — all of whom waited eagerly at The Oak Hall in Damansara Perdana for a look and the all important taste of the whiskey.
The new Edition No.4 is a celebration of the new Macallan distillery and visitor experience, located in the stunning Easter Elchies estate in the UK. Embodying the craftsmanship and pioneering design of the new £140 million (~RM765 million) distillery, the brand reveals a different take in the Edition No. 4 by exploring the whisky-making process and the details behind the creation. The Macallan brand of whiskies have certainly come a long way since its humble beginnings in 1824. Now, the brand is a leading international maker of single malt whisky in key markets around the world.
Kicking off the evening with bespoke cocktails served with The Macallan Sherry Oak 12 Years Old, guests were introduced to the new Macallan Distillery through a 10m photo gallery and interactive touchscreens displays. Also featured was a mini-cask booth, where guests got a firsthand experience in assembling casks from scratch in the traditional way — without the use of nails or glue. Brand Advocate of The Macallan Singapore, Randall Tan, led the guests through an immersive 3D journey through the new distillery followed by a tasting session where guests got their first taste of the Edition No. 4.
In conjunction with Edrington’s annual regional fundraising initiative (EPIC), 12 bottles of The Macallan Edition 4 were also auctioned off, with 100% of all proceeds going to the support of Newborns Vietnam, a non-government organisation that works with hospitals in Vietnam to reduce infant mortality. The bottles were priced at RM1,000 each and was quickly snapped up.
Adding to the fanfare of the evening was a performance by singer Evelyn Feronza, whose vocal stylings accentuated the merriment of the night as guests were served South-American and Spanish themed cuisine that were prepared by La Carretas and La Bodega. It was certainly a good time had by all.
