Onyx Hospitality Group, one of Thailand’s best known local hospitality companies, has recently opened its latest property in KL Eco City Mall – the Amari Kuala Lumpur hotel. As the first Amari property in the Malaysian capital, the 252-room hotel is compact enough for guests to consistently experience the brand’s signature hospitality up close.
The Thai-inspired accents don’t stop at just the service. Design elements come courtesy of the acclaimed Blu Water Studio, which has created an art-focused and greenery-filled hotel, based on the its ‘vivarium of the East’ concept. Think of it as a stylised cocoon featuring modern outtakes of traditional colourful Malaysian artforms, framed with all the facilities befitting a city-hotel.
There’s the salt-water swimming pool overlooking the Kampung Abdullah Hukum precinct, as well a connecting LRT station. There’s also the 24-hour FIT gym, a cosy yet well-equipped space for early-morning or late-night workouts.
At Amaya Food Gallery, the menu comprises both local and international delicacies, including char koay teow and other Malaysian staples inspired by Asian street food and hawkers’ skills and dynamism. The breakfast buffet includes Indian curries, nasi lemak, dim sum, and noodles along with a miniature cheese platter for those who can’t do without their dairy fix.
Rooms at Amari Kuala Lumpur are decked in the chain’s classy beige and mocha hues interspersed with homespun Malaysian design motifs such as snazzy riffs on traditional ikat. On the building’s second floor, the hotel showcases its seven meeting and event spaces, each of which are equipped with of-the-moment multimedia equipment. The larger 220-square-metre ballroom accommodates up to 200 people. All spaces are decked in natural light that come courtesy of the floor-to-ceiling windows.
Amari Kuala Lumpur (and the adjacent Aspire Tower) are both conceived by property developer S P Setia. Specially selected artworks from emerging local artists are key highlights of the property. These works are displayed throughout the hotel, bringing to mind a tasteful blend of fine aesthetics and superior functionality at Kuala Lumpur’s latest address of note.
