The Hardware On This New Oppo Find N3 Fold Phone Will Leave You Speechless

Although the competition for high-end smartphones, especially the fold editions, is pretty high, that still didn’t shake Oppo’s confidence with their release of the new Find N3 fold phone (RM7,999). Available in either Champagne Gold or Classic Black, the exterior of the Oppo Find N3 is stylish with a decadently luxurious look. It has an elegant dark silver lining and an eco-leather back that exudes timelessness. The leather has a smooth yet grainy finish that doubles as a steady grip.

Unlike its competitors, the Oppo Find N3 has a chunky camera case at the back, making it look like a professional DSLR. However, the bezel is quite slim and it looks opulent resting on the leathery back. In fact, the phone is on the lighter side—at 239 grams—even though it practically has two screens. Plus, it’s stable and comfortable to hold when folded. It boasts a 7.8-inch in height LTPO AMOLED internal screen, which has 2,484 x 1,116 pixels. When folded, the device has a surprisingly slim profile.

The Oppo Find N3 can be folded halfway and tilted when you wish to watch a movie.

When unfolded, the weight might make the phone slightly challenging to hold with just one hand, especially for those prone to a bit of carelessness (like me). The crease in the middle seems alarming at first when the phone is unfolded and unlit, but is not visible to the naked eye when the graphics are on display.

I truly appreciate the hinge built on the phone, as it’s exceptionally smooth and easy to unfold, revealing a larger screen as compared to its predecessor. When unfolded, the width goes from 73.3mm to 143.1mm, nearly doubling in size.

The Oppo Find N3’s interior is as impressive as the exterior, as it’s equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip with 16GB RAM and 512GB storage. If you’re a gamer, then this phone promises a powerful and smooth gaming experience.

I look for powerful cameras in phones, besides note-taking and recording voices. The recorder also allows me to take pictures to mark important spots and conversations. Back to photography, Oppo partnered with Swedish camera manufacturer Hasselblad to give the Find N3 a 48MP ultrawide camera, a 64MP telephoto camera, and a 48MP main camera. There’s also the 20MP main screen camera and the 32MP cover screen camera. As predicted, both front and rear cameras produce crisp and detailed images.

In addition, the post-processing AI technology can now fill in missing data and details in images, making them clear and sharp. Speaking of sharpness, the screen can get very bright at 1,400 nits in high brightness mode, but it comes with a matte anti-glare finish that’s effective at erasing reflections.

I have a habit of allowing my phones to run out of power, but with the Oppo Find N3, I could use the phone for more than a day, thanks to its 4,805mAh battery. I tend to open way too many apps at one go while snapping images and editing videos, but the battery kept the phone alive for as long as I needed it.

Yes, this well-constructed phone comes with a surprisingly large price tag, but keep in mind that it’s both a phone and tablet, all in one. Its wide screen and steady exterior make it effortless for me to switch between work and personal use. Working on-the-go has never been this easy for me, thanks to Oppo Find N3.
