At Admiral Marina & Leisure Club, Simpson Marine Malaysia orchestrated an exclusive Malaysia Yachting Weekend, joined by the olfactory allure of Mortlach. Along the picturesque coast of Port Dickson, guests explored an array of yachts while savouring the exquisite flavours of fine Mortlach whiskies featuring 12-, 16- and 20-year-old single malts.
Introduced in 2018 as part of a collection, this trinity of single malt whiskies represents the classic essence of Mortlach. The 12-year-old, dubbed The Wee Witchie, is a tribute to the distillery’s smallest yet most essential still. Aged in sherry and bourbon casks, the 12-year-old is rich and fruity with hints of light spice and robust flavours of classic Mortlach meatiness. Meanwhile, the 16-year-old, which has been matured in sherry casks, offers a fuller body flavour profile that finishes with a surprising sweetness. Finally, the 20-year-old, being the most complex of the three, has undergone exclusive maturation in sherry casks resulting in a dense, smooth and mellow dram. With hints of dried fruit flavours, the 20-year-old boasts notes of sweetness and smokiness with a hint of crackling.
Following the concise tasting session with Mortlach, guests enjoyed perusing the bevy of yachts on display, ranging from the luxurious Fairline Targa 45 to the dynamic Beneteau Gran Turismo 41, ideal for families or couples in search of a summer retreat. At the end of the day, it was the newly released Aquila 42 that stole the show. As the first of its kind in Asia, Aquila 42 sets a new standard for luxury on water with its large aft platforms and remarkable stability that bodes exceedingly well for discerning yacht enthusiasts.
At the setting of the sun, the Malaysia Yachting Weekend drew to a close, leaving an indelible mark on guests who revelled in a symphony of refined tastes and maritime excellence, resonating with the promise of new horizons on the open sea.
