What To Expect at The Sukhothai Bangkok’s New Game-Changing Wellness Complex

Although spas at some hotels are but a side note, hotels such as the freshly spruced Sukhothai Bangkok are going all out to woo the wellness baht. The Ed Tuttle-designed property has long been considered as the Thai capital’s stalwart version of residential luxury, offering the familiarity of home matched only by its sense of thoughtful hospitality. The hotel spent a sizable amount to upgrade both its rooms as well as the recent big reveal of its brand-new wellness complex.

“The discovery of more than 7,000 sq m of lush gardens adjacent to the hotel sparked the vision to provide guests with a spa experience immersed in the harmonious embrace of nature at the heart of bustling Bangkok,” says Alexander Schillinger, the hotel’s general manager. “Collaborating with leading design and architecture firms, we transformed this vision into reality. By strategically positioning the main building to capture captivating views of lush greenery and incorporating traditional Thai houses as iconic landmarks, we’ve elevated the overall guest experience.”

The spa takes place of what was formerly a private residence, revealing the form of a sweeping traditional Thai residence with sprawling treatment rooms, a saltwater outdoor infinity swimming pool, hot tubs, sauna, steam rooms, and a state-of-the-art technology facial room, as well as dedicated enclaves for yoga, Pilates and meditation. Other highlights include The Presidential Hammam, a grand space decked in jade-hued stone hamman beds that one enters through a wooden brass-handled door. On the spa menu (which looks set to expand in the coming months) are offerings such as massage therapy, beauty treatments, hammams, yoga, Pilates, meditation classes, personalised nutrition advice, and fitness training.

The Sukhothai Bangkok’s heart-of-the-city location belies an architectural marvel that conveys the energy of a hidden mansion set in verdant surrounds. Isn’t the mere thought of that already relaxing in itself? Crafted with the same meditative intention of Wat Sri Chum, a well-known place of veneration, The Sukhothai Spa was conceived to offer a similar sense of sanctuary to guests from all over the world seeking a much-needed sense of peace and repose.

Treatments at The Sukhothai Spa comprise both nurturing traditional modalities from around the world as well as modern, results-driven therapies such as mani-pedis by Bastien Gonzalez and the indulgent gua sha lifting caviar facial. Product ranges here include Biologique Recherche; PEDI: MANI: CURE STUDIO by Bastien Gonzalez; Moringa Projects; Kerstin Florian; Charme d’Orient; and Miskawaan Clinic. For a low-key luxe Bangkok getaway, this palace of wellness would most likely be the ideal location to find oneself in.
