At Delvaux’s recent Savoirs and Savoir-Faire presentation, Robb Report Malaysia joined the Belgian maison to explore its latest Autumn/Winter 2024 Collection. Alongside new seasonal colours, trapezoidal shapes also come into play in Delvaux’s newest creations across a variety of sizes and unique materials.
Taking centre stage is the L’Airess, a modern tote reinterpreted from Delvaux’s 1946 Avia Airess suitcase that was crafted from aluminium alloy commonly used in aircraft construction for lighter travel. This new design is made with Taurillon leather, which may appear rather rigid at first but will gradually develop a relaxed slouch over time. Adorned with the same perforations as its 1946 predecessor, the L’Airess features wings by its side, much like an aircraft, that can be folded inward for a more streamlined look or expanded to create more space.
Guests were also captivated by the Caprice, a petite bag with a sleek metal top handle. The design was first spotted in 1996 in Hollywood legend Elizabeth Taylor’s personal collection. Hot stamped with her initials, the bag was believed to be custom made for the actress. Inspired by that, Delvaux reintroduces the Caprice in Box Calf leather and six other limited-edition designs crafted with wood, metal, straw, glass, ceramic, and malachite, each capturing the essence of savoir-faire at its highest potential.
Against the backdrop of the city skyline, a pop-up Delvaux Café was set up at the open-air pavilion of The RuMa Hotel & Residences to celebrate the launch of its new designs. Inspired by the Avia Airess luggage line, the café was embellished with the same patterns that define the collection and served guests specially curated drinks and a selection of gourmet bites.
Those interested in the L’Airess can find the collection now at Delvaux’s Pavilion Kuala Lumpur boutique. Meanwhile, the Caprice collection is currently open for pre-orders and will be available for purchase this November. Its limited-edition designs, however, are made to order.
