Not one to shy away from making a dapper statement in the race paddock, Lewis Hamilton is adding a new feather to his cap as Dior Men’s newest ambassador. Building on his core directive with his own clothing line, Plus 44, the seven-time Formula 1 World Champion is also launching a lifestyle capsule collection with Dior Men’s creative director Kim Jones. A confluence of couture and practical utility, the collection adopts an eco-conscious and outdoor living approach. “Working with Kim and the talented team at Dior has been a dream,” Hamilton said in a statement. “I was honoured when he asked if I’d like to do this with him. Our values and ideas are very much aligned, which made it easy to bring to life a collection infused with our shared experiences.”
The new joint collection centres around a winter lifestyle focused on skiing and snowboarding, revealing another facet of Hamilton’s sporting and personal life. Opting for a fuller, voluminous cut, the winter capsule takes on the adrenaline of outdoor thrills with functional efficiency, neat tailoring, and embellished finishes. “Focusing on conscious choices with each piece, while drawing inspiration from my African roots—such as the fabrics, natural materials and vibrant colours—has been incredibly inspiring,” Hamilton says. The fresh line-up highlights new casual suiting crafted from classic Dior tweeds and contemporary African weaves, in contrast with relaxed denim, sweats and fleeces made from organic and recycled textiles. It also integrates the technical precision of Japanese ski wear to offer ultimate protection against extreme cold.
In line with this technical focus, the accessories include high-performance POC protective gear specially crafted in Sweden, custom snowboards by Factory 9 in Switzerland, as well as atelier bags and shoes—all made with winter-compatible textiles and materials. Designed to emulate the durability of mountain boots, the new Dior Snow Derbys supplement a chunky build and padded construction for improved traction on the slopes, while the B44 Blade—named after Hamilton’s F1 car number 44—embraces a nattier appearance with its oversized trainer style. Bags are also assembled to facilitate freedom of movement, as exemplified by the Dior Zipped Backpack made with ultra-resilient fabrics for optimal functionality both inside and out.
The new Dior and Lewis Hamilton lifestyle capsule collection will be available online and in boutiques on 17 October 2024. Mark your calendars and be among the first to get your hands on these exclusive winter pieces.
