OPPO is set to make waves in the premium smartphone segment with its latest flagship, the Find X8 Pro, featuring what may be the most sophisticated mobile camera system to date. The global launch, held on 21 November in Bali, Indonesia, follows the device’s debut in China and promises to elevate mobile photography to new heights.
At the heart of the Find X8 Pro’s innovation is its exclusive dual-periscope telephoto system—a world first in a globally available smartphone. This engineering feat allows for unprecedented zoom capabilities, offering photographers a gapless range from ultra-wide to telephoto without compromising image quality. The quad-camera array, developed in partnership with legendary camera maker Hasselblad, features four 50-megapixel sensors that work in harmony to capture everything from sweeping landscapes to intimate portraits.
Photography enthusiasts will appreciate the device’s AI Telescope Zoom, which kicks in at 10x magnification and beyond, ensuring crisp, detailed images even at extreme distances. For capturing fleeting moments, the new Lightning Snap feature employs sophisticated processing to shoot up to seven frames per second—rivalling the capabilities of dedicated cameras while maintaining exceptional image quality in each frame.
The Find X8 Pro’s prowess extends beyond still photography. It’s the first Android device to offer 4K Dolby Vision HDR video recording at 60 frames per second across all cameras, including the front-facing one. This capability, combined with four studio-grade microphones, positions the device as a complete content creation tool.
Powering these innovations is MediaTek’s latest Dimensity 9400 chipset, manufactured using a 3-nanometre process. The processor delivers substantial performance improvements while maintaining power efficiency—crucial for the device’s 5,910mAh silicon-carbon battery, which supports 80W wired and 50W wireless charging.
OPPO has also made significant strides in software with ColorOS 15, built on Android 15. The interface introduces AI-powered features including advanced photo editing tools and seamless file sharing capabilities with iOS devices through the new Touch to Share function. The system leverages Google’s Gemini AI for enhanced digital assistance and introduces intuitive features like Circle to Search for visual web queries.
Billy Zhang, vice president of OPPO and president of overseas marketing and services shared that during the company’s market visit to Saudi Arabia, they observed a common frustration among users who owned both iOS and Android devices and struggled to share information between them.
“Rather than accepting this as an inevitable barrier, we challenged our R&D team to find a solution. They discovered that by adapting our format exchange protocols to be compatible with iOS, we could bridge this digital divide. It wasn’t about converting users from one platform to another – it was about solving a real pain point that affected people’s daily lives,” said Zhang.
“While AI is transforming every industry, our advantage lies in combining advanced AI capabilities with deep user insights. Unlike a purely technological approach, we focus on understanding how AI can enhance real user experiences,” he added.
The Find X8 Pro maintains its premium aesthetic despite its technological achievements. Available in Space Black or Pearl White, the device measures just 8.24 millimetres thick and weighs 215 grams—remarkable considering its capabilities. The 6.78-inch AMOLED display features subtle curves on all four sides and boasts a peak brightness of 4,500 nits in HDR content, ensuring excellent visibility in any lighting condition.
Pre-orders are currently open in Malaysia, with the Find X8 Pro priced at RM4,999. The Find X8 Pro represents OPPO’s vision for the future of mobile technology, where professional-grade imaging capabilities meet cutting-edge artificial intelligence in a refined, practical package.
