The inaugural Southeast Asian edition of the Lamborghini Esperienza Giro celebrated the marque’s 60 years with a convoy of more than 40 super sports cars and super SUVs badged by the Raging Bull. Lamborghini owners from Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand converged in Penang for the start of the journey, with a welcome lunch at the beautifully restored Cheong Fatt Tze mansion. From here, the Lamborghinis made their way along the island’s curvaceous northern strip towards Shangri-La Rasa Sayang, Penang. Soon enough, in the golden glow of the setting sun, the owners were greeted by a garden cocktail party before being ushered into a dining canopy. Inside, they were greeted by a resplendent menu by chef Su Kim Hock of one-Michelin-starred Au Jardin.
The next day dawned and, before long, the bulls were on their way towards the limestone hills and caverns of Tambun. Here, they were welcomed by an oasis of natural hot springs, lush rainforests and gardens, as well as Jeff’s Cellar, a restaurant located in a 260-million-year-old cave. The owners dined on a specially prepared lunch to the sounds of an electric violin and Italian arias.
From here, the convoy proceeded up the twisty mountain roads to Resorts World Genting. In the cooler climate, the Lamborghini owners and their passengers could gaze across the dramatic mountain range and be enveloped by clouds. In the evening, dinner included the unveiling of an art piece by international artist and sculptor Michelle Yap. The artwork, entitled Weaving The Future, was created as an ode to the 60th anniversary of Lamborghini and a tribute to its avant-garde future through the use of coloured LED cords and an age-old weaving technique to layer meaning, history and futurism—reflecting Lamborghini’s evolution across its six decades.
On day three, the convoy powered into the heart of the Kuala Lumpur metropolis, where modern skyscrapers are juxtaposed with pre-war colonial and Moorish architecture. The EQ Kuala Lumpur hotel, where the cars were parked, was the culmination of this Esperienza Giro SEA. At the top of the hotel, the participants discovered the Sky 51 venue decked out for the finale party. Here, overlooking the dramatic spires and distant mountains of Klang Valley, the participants enjoyed live music and the sounds of the resident DJ as they partied till the late hours of the night.
