Alfresco lounging
The new Tigmi alfresco lounger from Germany’s Dedon is equal parts sofa and shelter, with comfort and style to spare. Conceived by the Paris-based designer Jean-Marie Massaud and named for the Berber word for “house,” the Tigmi (priced from RM77,400) features a deep seating area that doubles as a daybed to accommodate several adults sitting or two reclining.
Its powder-coated metal frame cradles cushions covered in Batyline fabrics, and the handwoven roof – made of a high-density polyethylene the company calls Dedon Fibre – provides cover while affording glimpses of the view overhead through the weave and a small, oval-shaped opening. The top can be removed without tools, making it easy to bask in the sun for a time. Simply snap it back on for shaded enjoyment, from glare-free e-reading to sipping cocktails or napping poolside. Lolling on the sofa never felt so good – or looked so beautiful.
