Meet The Japanese Brothers Raised To Become Michelin Chefs

It takes a special father to inspire not one but two sons to follow in the former’s footsteps. Or perhaps just a very wily one. Chef So Otowa, younger brother and mastermind of the one-Michelin-starred Ciel et Sol in Shiroganedai, Tokyo, describes joining his father at a chef’s conference on a whim. But when his name was announced as the son and impromptu sous chef to grand maestro Kazunori Otowa, the applause in the room left a lasting impression.

Not previously conscious of his father’s influence on the world stage, he was moved to uphold the family tradition as older sibling Chef Hajime Otowa had done.

Praised for their exceptional French cuisine composed with Japanese ingredients, St Regis Kuala Lumpur’s Guest Star Chef Series now offers you an opportunity to savour singular Otowa creations. At The Brasserie, enjoy a five-course meal of Trout Chaudfroid with seasonal vegetables, Chicken Mousse with Foie Gras and Madeira sauce, Amadai Croustillant with Seaweed sauce, Wagyu Roti with Lyonnaise sauce and ending with the Strawberry Oeuf À la Neige featuring sake lees ice cream.

The St. Regis Kuala Lumpur’s Guest Star Chef Series dinner is priced at MYR480+ per person or MYR680+ per person with alcohol pairing from 28-30 March. For bookings, please call +603 2727 6666 or email thebrasserie@stregiskl.com
