One of life’s simple joys is relaxing at home and watching your favourite TV shows. Although we’ve shifted to a ‘mobile-first’ mentality in recent years, there’s still something special about savouring your very own private home cinema, featuring a large, vivid screen as well as a thumping surround-sound system. In fact, the latest tech developments in the realm of televisions have always been about increasing the immersive experience, from transistors in the 1960s all the way up to the high-definition of today.

Like with all consumer electronics, Sony has had a pioneering role in the world of TVs throughout history. For example, it released the world’s first direct-view portable transistor television in 1960, which meant that consumers could watch The Flintstones or The Ed Sullivan Show anywhere they’d like and not just in the living room. Sony’s line of Trinitron TVs debuted in 1968, while the WEGA series of HDTVs (featuring an FD Trinitron tube) launched in 1998. Then, in 2005, the BRAVIA® series of widescreen LCD TVs was unveiled, with its special backlight system delivering a wide colour gamut and a full HD resolution.

Now, more than 20 years later, the next chapter of BRAVIA is here with the BRAVIA® 9 II and the BRAVIA® 7 II televisions, with both representing the pinnacle of Sony’s BRAVIA® line-up and featuring a new dimension of authentic colour experiences thanks to their True RGB technologies.

The Future Of Colour

Powered by its proprietary RGB Backlight Master Drive Pro, this new range of BRAVIA® True RGB televisions delivers the largest colour volume ever in Sony’s home TV history. This means that colours are reproduced more accurately in any kind of home environment, because the technology is able to precisely control independently driven red, green, and blue light sources (or RGB LEDs). In other words, True RGB achieves vastly improved depth, contrast, and gradation on the screen, as well as purer colours, richer brightness, and reduced blooming compared to other Mini LED displays.

In addition, the BRAVIA® 9 II and BRAVIA® 7 II boast X-Wide Angle Pro tech, which means your shows or movies look beautiful from any viewing angle. The TVs sound great too, thanks to their 3D Surround Upscaling and AI-powered Voice Zoom 3 features.

Cinema Is Coming Home

The BRAVIA® 9 II is Sony’s flagship True RGB television, with an 115-inch option, as well as an expanded colour volume due to its RGB Triluminos Max and Luminance Booster Pro capabilities. It also features Immersive Black Screen Pro, a unique class of screen treatment, which enables glare-free, low-reflection performance with deep blacks, even in a bright room. Its Acoustic Multi-Audio+ tech and up-firing beam tweeters create an even more immersive experience.

Meanwhile, BRAVIA® 7 II is available in sizes from 50 to 98 inches, and boasts plenty of the latest tech that the BRAVIA® 9 II also shares. These include Ambient Optimisation, which automatically adapts the visuals and audio to its position in the room; Dolby Vision, Dolby Atmos, DTS:X, and IMAX Enhanced support; and a breathtaking design language that elevates these televisions from conventional appliances into centrepieces for your home. For instance, they have a wave-textured bezel as well as a transparent Mirage Stand, which creates a floating, cable-free appearance.

And, when paired with the also recently released BRAVIA® Theatre Trio premium wireless speaker system, the BRAVIA® 9 II and BRAVIA® 7 II televisions will bring the magic of cinema home.
