Here’s How The New Samsung Galaxy Z Flip3 Fared After A Month Of Serious Use

We’ve flipped and folded Samsung’s latest phone, the Galaxy Z Flip3, for over a month and here’s how this stylish piece of tech has held up.

Battery-life

There were some initial concerns about the phone’s battery life. However the Galaxy Z Flip3, equipped with a 3,300 mAh power pack that’s split between the two halves of the phone, held its full charge for a decent eight hours of screen time. While we cannot say how long the battery life will last in your hands, it will most definitely get you through a regular workday with some left to spare. Depending on your usage, you may see a dip if you are gaming or binge-watching Netflix, but it still holds out pretty well. It’s worth noting that, unlike Samsung’s other flagship models, the Flip3 is not compatible with super-fast charging. That being said, it only takes about an hour or so to get a full charge.

Camera

The cameras on the Flip3 really does the job. The flip phone comes with a 12MP wide-angle and ultra-wide lens on the rear, along with a 10MP selfie camera. Paired with the phone’s handy feature of being its own stand, the Flip3 has made it very convenient to take group photos or set up a video call without having to find random objects to prop up the phone. The more exciting feature is actually being able to capture selfies using a superior rear camera lens with the cover screen’s viewfinder. Without telephoto lens, however, the camera may not be suited for complex shots but for casual pictures to be shared among friends, it is aces.

Display

The handset’s 6.7-inch Super AMOLED display is outstanding, to say the least. New users may need some time to adjust to the impressively long 2,630 x 1,080 screen, but its 120 Hz refresh rate makes the viewing and scrolling experience incredibly fast, smooth and even gorgeous. The colours are vibrant and rich, showcasing Samsung’s display prowess. When closed, the 1.9-inch cover screen takes over, allowing you to interact with major phone functions without needing to open the device. This is an impressive function that really allows the Flip3 to be useful while saving power. The crease across the middle of the interior display is a little noticeable when you scroll but not visible most times. Having used the phone for some time, we found that it’s really nothing to be bothered about.

Build quality

There’s were some scepticism surrounding the durability of a folding smartphone but the Flip3 has satisfied the critics with its updated build. The screen is now 80% more durable thanks to a new protective film, and the cover screen display is kept safe by a Gorilla Glass Victus cover. The sturdy Flip3 also has a frame made from Armor Aluminium, that enhances its scratch resistance qualities and strengthens its water-resistance capabilities. The phone also comes with brilliant stereo speakers that produce impressive volume and clarity, perfect for music and movie lovers. Plus, we cannot forget the Flip3’s main appeal – its compact size when folded. This is a wonderfully convenient feature, especially if your wardrobe isn’t equipped with clothes that have deep pockets.

The Flip3 has made quite the impression on regular phone users. Its impressive upgrades and features have many anticipating more exciting things to come for the next generation of smart flip phones.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip3 is currently available in stores and online for RM3,999. It also comes with a new selection of dual colourways to make your phone more stylish than ever.
