The Davidoff Black Band Proposes Captivating Blends For Different Moods

Late last year, Davidoff presented its Black Band collection, a range of cigars aimed at the intermediate and advanced aficionados who crave something fuller and more intense than Davidoff’s highly popular White Band collection. At the event introducing the Black Band, held at Here & Now in Damansara Heights, guests met Linus Mattisson, Davidoff’s brand ambassador who is based out of the brand’s headquarters in Basel. Mattisson also spends a lot of time in production facilities as well as the fields and has worked on various products under the Black Band collection. Here, he profiles a trio which steadily increases in intensity and body. Sit back, light up and savour the scents and tastes.

DAVIDOFF ESCURIO

Davidoff Escurio.

“The Escurio is a very complex cigar. It bears similarities in intensity with our Millenium series from the White Band collection but at the same time, it contains tobacco from Brazil (filler and binder) and an Ecuadorean wrapper which makes it sweet, spicy and with some saltiness and chocolate notes. When we talk about the complexity in a cigar, it’s how the flavours change – and this is very good to start the night with.”

DAVIDOFF NICARAGUA

Davidoff Nicaraguan.

“We move on to the Davidoff Nicaragua – a single-origin tobacco. Its wrapper and binder are from Jalapa Valley where the elevation shields tobacco plants from the harsh and heavy sun for lighter, creamier and smoother tobacco. Meanwhile, the fillers are from four different locations including Ometepe visus volcanic island on the south of Nicaragua where the rich minerals give you nice fresh spices.”

DAVIDOFF YAMASA

Davidoff Yamasa.

“The strongest and most full-bodied cigar from the Black Band Collection. Our long cigar that is very special with a Dominican wrapper and binder from Yamasa. The earth in Yamasa is very special because of its high iron content – and if you look at the cigar you will observe its brownish and red colour. It is the most intense and full-bodied expression, with very dark, earthy and mineral notes. In this cigar, you will also pick up a hint of orange which is a bit of a surprise – some sweet notes. When we talk about the finish – how long it stays on the palate – this one has an exceptionally long one that when you wake up the next morning, you can still taste the flavours on the palate.”
