G Hotel’s Ghost Ball 2018 celebrated partners with a spooky twist

spine tingling

Recently, over 300 guests of G Hotel, comprising corporate clients, travel agents and business partners, arrived at G Hotel Gurney’s Grand Ballroom for the 10th edition of the property’s appreciation dinner. The Ghost Ball 2018, as was the theme of the night, served up some fun times with a graveyard-like photo booth and models dressed as gothic spirits.

The fun ensued with lucky spins during the pre-dinner reception and themed cocktails the ‘moonlit’ minibar. Before long, guests were ushered into the sumptuous ballroom, bedecked by hanging crows and a thousand candles on 72 candelabras. Michael Hanratty, General Manager of G Hotel, opened proceedings by thanking guests. “It is indeed an accomplishment for G Hotel to continuously be a leading business hotel in Penang and an honour for both G Hotels to collectively garner 21 awards in 2017, an addition to its accolade of over 100 awards since its inception. So, this event goes out to each and every one of you who have been our long-standing partners that made us your first choice for accommodation, event function and even for dining in our bars and restaurants.”

A darkly themed ballet performance opened the evening followed by a rendition of the Phantom of the Opera by soprano Lim Chai Lin and the Yamaha string ensemble. The Greenapple Ballet Academy also showcased its repertoire of Black Swan and Last Dance to the delight of the audience.

For dinner, a stellar menu by the hotel’s kitchen team consisted of a timbale of jumbo crab meat, cream of butternut squash and slow-roasted duet of lamb rack and Provencal-crusted salmon, with citrus cheesecake to cap the gustatory lineup. An assortment of candy followed the night’s theme with sheeted ghosts-shaped treats.

Lucky draws for the evening included round-trip business class tickets on Cathay Pacific, designer handbags and an RM8,000 oval-shaped pink tourmaline with diamond pendent by Poh Kong. The best-dressed man and woman awards were also presented to Dato’ Shaik Ismail Allaudin and Khoo Ling Tze respectively.
